Thank you very much. I am really sorry to hear about your son and wish you only the very best - incidentally I sang this song at the funeral of my beloved former guitar teacher (partly as a consolation for myself).

Hello to all!

Since 1 year I am at the conservatory and I have progressed a lot compared to my former school of municipal music.
So I started an arrangement of a music that I wanted to make more "grandiose": Lavender Town.
I want to become a professional in the world of music (piano teacher, composer, arranger, performer).
I hope you will enjoy this arrangement!
I spent a lot of time on it but I am happy with the result.
Have a good day and I am happy to participate in this Pianoteq 6 contest!

PS : I am French and this is my first message on the forum

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2019 - ENTRIES

This summer I bought a Kawai MP-11 and started to practice some classical music again. I played this piece, I think 7 years ago, then I forgot it (I haven’t got the time to practice the last 6 years or so...), but this fall I picked it up again. Now I have played it again and then I put together a video where I tried to put some picture to explain how I interpret it. Before Chopin, Ballade was a name of a song with a story. So this piece needs a story to be played. There are some theories about what story Chopin tried to tell with this piece but I don’t know them so I have chosen another story to tell. I hope the pictures between me playing will show that story!

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2019 - ENTRIES

Hi there!
it's my first time participating in the contest and here is my entry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03I9jYPkJXw

It's a song I composed for my eletro-pop duo Ultralys (https://www.facebook.com/ultralys/). The song starts with a long piano and voice intro (About 3 minutes, the video is half the intro) after that, all the synth, drums, basses enter and the songs move to an almost disco vibe (seriously).

The arrangement of the intro is very sparse and therefore i needed a good realistic piano sound to make it sound credible. I tried all the options I had, my yamaha MO8 piano sounds, the sampled pianos from ableton suite, and Arturia Piano V. Finally pianoteq was the only one which I think really gives the impression of a real acoustic piano.

Hi Pianoteq enthusiasts!
Below is my entry to Pianoteq Video Contest 2019 made with sound of Bechstein Grand with some voicing modifications. Music of Agathe Ursula Backer Grøndahl is not so well known, but in my opinion it should change, because it is worth getting to know it.
So if you think like me and you like my interpretation - don't hesitate to vote right way
Good luck for ALL other participants of this year Contest. You do a GREAT job.

It would be perfect if it could have a hummingbird hovering next a flower in the end of the video.

Well done. This entry emphasizes three things to me:

1- no "cookie cutter" original composition here ... stunning and intriguing to listen to
2- playing technic is so clean
3- the response and fidelity by Pianoteq to your various dynamic/touch levels is superb. (sampling ... R.I.P.)

Wonderful music and playing! I think you are are such a gifted and talented pianist! And what a coincidence - I have listened many times to this Keith Jarret’s version  because I have to play this piece on a 95 year birthday party next week. Now I can listen to your playing and understanding of this piece arrangement and how you give your ”explanation” of it, and take some ideas from some sections to make my simple playing a bit more interesting. And yes, I relax and enjoy! Thank you very much and best of luck in the competition!

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. All the best with your performance next week!

Wish you all the best with the competition as well. Chloe's dream is something I can personally identify with very much, and it speaks to the true meaning of playing the piano.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2019 - ENTRIES

My entry this year is a piece called Musical Chairs. It began as a piano improv, but after a bit of tinkering in Logic Pro, and with the help of some old-fashioned compositional techniques (mainly canon and inversion), it grew to nearly 15 minutes, and became a quartet for two Pianoteq instruments, music box, and double bass.

The melody jumps around from one octave to another, and it’s full of irregular rhythms and sudden accents – which made me think of the sort of unpredictability that kids encounter when they play a game of Musical Chairs.

I thought of uploading only a short excerpt, but I couldn’t decide which bits to leave out, so here’s the whole piece. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Logic Pro X EXS24 Upright Double Bass
Pianoteq MKI Soft Chorus (modified)

Hi everyone,

I permanently create youtube videos with pianoteq. One of them, which was uploaded in youtube at the requested period of time, is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEMvBfLss_U

But you can also check the other videos on my channel. The setup is always the same: Kawai K5 ATX in silent mode, out with USB to Logic, triggering Pianoteq. It is great, i love it. It is quick and has almost no latency to me.

Questions anybody? Feel free. I am happy to answer.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2019 - ENTRIES

Hello everyone! This is my entry for this year’s “Pianoteq Video Contest”

I recorded this video with my beloved Kawai VPC-1 in my studio, based in Lima, Peru.

The sound I am using in the video is the Pleyel, which is one of favorite ones alongside the Bluethner. I really love both them. However, I chose the Pleyel because I felt it was a better fit for this particular type of piece and it felt natural for me to play the piece with this sound. I thoroughly enjoy playing this piece

Kudos to Modartt for developing an amazing sounding realistic virtual instrument that has literally faded away my desires to get an acoustic piano. It is truly an awesome product I cannot recommend enough, specially to my piano students.

Greetings from Peru!

Gabriel Iwasaki.

Whew! Just got this done in time. This is an improvisation on my iPhone "Silk" ringtone. Intro is a synth pad from Spitfire Audio LABS. Piano is Pianoteq 6 Steinway B Cinematic with Taj Mahal reverb, compression turned off and dynamics set to 50. This is my first venture into this genre since I normally play backing for pop vocals and I had so much fun doing it. I also found it very challenging since dynamics are so much more important in a piece like this. Thanks for the contest Modartt, and good luck to everyone!

I found out about this contest just today and so I did something real quick. Not a piano piece, though, but of course featuring PianoTeq 6, furthermore showcasing Linux as a recording platform:

https://youtu.be/WOq-vKQm3R4

The rhythm is dictated by the loop of the sample played by the synthesizer, which changes with the pitch, making this more or less poly-rhythmic.
