Topic: On my system, Audacity no longer imports files correctly

When I try to import any type of sound file, nothing happens. If I click on any button, a small window appears that says that it is importing the file, but it never does, and instead, after about a minute, it crashes. Using Windows 10 and just the usual Windows or ASIO drivers. Anyone else with this problem?

And can someone suggest a similar program for converting wave files to mp3's and doing basic editing? I may be able to get Audacity working, or may not.

Did you try the portable version of Audacity to see if the problem persist?

Check your computer settings for the sound.  Mine somehow got away from the norm, but functioned normally when reset to default.  I think I had it set for films or something.

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

Resolved: I had to simply uninstall Audacity, download the latest version, and reinstall it. Works fine, now. A file was corrupted, I suppose.
