Topic: Casio Privia PX-150 PX-350

Hi guys,
does anyone have a velocity curve for the new Casio PX-150/350 etc series? can you pls upload it on the forum?

the keyboard is identical for all the models from 150 to 850.

I am currently using the old PX-130 curve but it is not the same kb of the new series.

thanks

Re: Casio Privia PX-150 PX-350

I have the casio PX-780, and would also be interested.  Would all of this series, 350, 750, 780, and 850 use the same curve?

Bill

Re: Casio Privia PX-150 PX-350

Here is the one I'm using now.  I also posted under px-780.  As I said there it is a work in progress.
Velocity = [0, 3, 3, 15, 33, 50, 64, 79, 92, 105, 120; 0, 0, 8, 21, 31, 47, 63, 74, 90, 105, 118]

Re: Casio Privia PX-150 PX-350

My own curve, for a PX-350 _with menu setting "Touch = 3" (heavy touch).   It's truncated on the bottom (no sound for velocity below "ppp") and on the top, it reaches "fff" before the MIDI velocity reaches 127.   Maybe I need stronger fingers?

As with others, this is a "work in progress".  But for me, Pianoteq (Bluthner) plays nicely with this curve.

Velocity = [0, 8, 28, 51, 80, 118, 127; 0, 1, 32, 61, 96, 126, 127]

Hi billd,

This one sounded SO nice on my Casio PX-850! Thanks!

Has you changed something since january?

Thanks! My best regards,

Re: Casio Privia PX-150 PX-350

Welcome to the forum Mauricio;

I have changed the curve many times since January.  I have also upgraded to Standard then Pro since then.  Here is the latest: Velocity = [0, 3, 13, 22, 38, 57, 72, 90, 108, 124, 127; 0, 0, 23, 36, 55, 70, 83, 97, 112, 127, 127]

Hi, billd, thank you for your feedback, I'll try it as soon as I get the chance (I am an airliner pilot and I should be home in a couple of days).

Have you ever experimented the piano condition meter? I'm trying condition 0.08 to add just a little imperfection and see what happens with my U4. ;-)

Thanks! Take care :-)

Re: Casio Privia PX-150 PX-350

I'm the very happy new owner of a PX850 and Pianoteq Stage. What a sweet combination. I've found that the best compromise for the PX850's touch response setting is "2." The PX seems hard-pressed to span more than 115 or so of the 127 velocity range, so when you set touch to 1, its limited velocity range errs on the side of ff-fff, and the most softly played notes rarely come in within the ~0-25 ppp-pp range. Set it to 3, and the problem is vice-versa. So I use 2, which I believe is Casio's default setting. As for the curve, for my playing style at least, I want to slow the velocity>volume increase on the way up to mp-mf (no sudden volume pops) but accelerate it on the way from mp-mf to ff-fff (no need to pound the keys to push the volume into "loud"). The result is a subtle S curve. My current values are Velocity = [0, 15, 27, 36, 46, 57, 69, 81, 93, 105, 116, 125; 3, 9, 18, 27, 39, 52, 69, 87, 102, 116, 123, 127]

Re: Casio Privia PX-150 PX-350

Okay, okay... Much tweaking and thinking later (this better compensates for the Privia's <<127 velocity range):

Velocity = [7, 17, 26, 34, 43, 50, 57, 64, 72, 81, 90, 99, 109, 118; 1, 5, 11, 19, 29, 39, 51, 64, 79, 93, 105, 114, 122, 127]
