Topic: Pianteq Stage "Blues Demo" Question

I currently have only the trial version of Pianoteq Stage but am considering purchasing it.  I really enjoy the "Blues Demo" that's incorporated into it and assume that it is a MIDI file.  Is there any way to extract that file (either from the trial version of the full version)?  I would like to view it's score in other software that I own, in order to learn to play it.

Thanks!

Are you referring to the MIDI file that is loaded on startup? (I have the Pro version and it loads a piece by Robert Schumann, not the "Blues Demo"). I don't think you can get access to the MIDI version of these pieces, I have tried and did not succeed.

Yes, it is an embedded midi file and you cannot save it but you can save it as a WAV file.

That, of course, may not be much use to you.

newbert: if you email me the WAV file I may be able to use my Sonar DAW to convert it to MIDI. (To email me, log in to this pianoteq forum and view one of my posts. under my name on the left hand side there should be an 'Email' link you can use to email me). you may know that already but i didn't so that is why i am mentioning it.

Re: Pianteq Stage "Blues Demo" Question

Mabry - Thank you for your kind offer.  But it appears that the "Blues Demo" file is no longer available to me   8-(

I bought the full version of Pianteq Stage yesterday and, after installing it, "Blues Demo" is no longer the default file when starting up the trial version (or whn starting up the full version for that matter).  If someone could explain to me how to again gain access to that file, I would take you up on your offer.

Thanks again!

Re: Pianteq Stage "Blues Demo" Question

Just run the demo again.

What OS are you using? I assume in windows this would involve a whole new "install" procedure, probably overwriting your registered pianoteq?

2 sec... i'll encode it to mp3 for you.

Here it is using the default (D4 / daily practice) sound: http://www.deimos.ca/miscjunk/pianoteq-bluesdemo.mp3

...so, if this sonar thing doesn't work too good, at least you'll have the mp3 you can listen to

Thanks, Delt!  FYI, my OS is Windows7.  ...And yes - Re-installing the trial version would probably overwrite the full version, so I'd rather not try it.

Now it would be great to extract the score to follow as I listen to it.  I have Band-in-a-Box, but it only extracts the chords......

Thanks again!

Sonar was not able to output a MIDI file that matched the input; some notes were output but not all of them and those that were had incorrect timing. Sorry!

Re: Pianteq Stage "Blues Demo" Question

doh... anyway if pianoteq was able to output midi data in any kind of way it would be easy to read it from another program.... another option would be to search the executable and/or data files for anything that matches a standard midi file....

/* edit */ Got it!! Offset 0x518520 in the linux executable file!

Here it is, sir --- http://www.deimos.ca/miscjunk/pianoteq-bluesdemo.mid

Well, I don't know how you did it, but Thank You!  8-)

Re: Pianteq Stage "Blues Demo" Question

FYI: I have been informed by Pianoteq that the "Blues Demo" midi file is copyrighted (by the author of the piece), and have been asked to delete it.  As a result, I have complied and have removed it from my system.

Thank you all for helping with my question.
