Topic: First impression - first flaws
Today I got the package. Installed everything (XP64) - Pianoteq also 64 bits version. Nothing to it. Used it as a VST under SONAR 8 Prod. Set the "sound" to Erard and played a previous made MIDI file of Chopin's Berceuse. Apart from the fact that now "velocity on every note" is utmost important, I am impressed by the sound.
Normally using SONAR and VSTi's on saving the project SONAR also saves all settings in any VSTi, so that when reloading you don't have to check if the right VSTi settings are there.
Though I set the instrument to Erard Ambience, Sonar reloads with C3. OK. One can save the preset (at the Pianoteq main window). I tried to do that, but I can't. Under Sonar it is impossible to change the name in the little form-field on the GUI of Pianoteq (as if the keyboard doesn't send any typed characters).
So I used the VST-save/load presets, with those it worked.
No harm done, I will go on trying to make those Chopin MIDI's "sing".
My compliments to the makers of this package. I already have two other Piano sample libraries (I know Pianoteq isn't sampled!) and I must say that after this one there is NONE SO GOOD!!! except for the real instrument of course.
