Topic: Sound sources

Why does the sound of the keyboard featured in Pianoteq's software, sound different from the one played through my midi controller (Fatar VMK-188), since they are both played through the same system?

I love the sound you get when playing Midi files directly through Pianoteq. Its sharp and clean and have more of an egde.

Does anyone else have this discrepancy in the sound?

Re: Sound sources

They should be exactly the same, since in both cases you are triggering code through midi commands.

The problem is probably the velocity setting on your keyboard. Have you experimented with the various soft-to-hard settings and curves?

Re: Sound sources

Thanks! I'll look into this. The manual that came with the keyboard is rubbish though. This may take sometime.

Could it be that I'm connected via USB and not through MIDI connections?

cheers

Re: Sound sources

Sorted. I realised that if I play a note, I'm striking it about half of what the mouse over the same key, so the sound is different. If I strike it full, the sound is the same.

For the first time, I've really taken a closer look at my keyboard.

Thanks
