Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Hello!
I have been working on this for months. Got inspired with modified Bluthner. Because I am not a pianist, but maybe someday a good accompanist though(at least according to my teacher)  and I do not have that good stuff to film myself, I had to find out something new, that has not been in this competition  before.  Something that really ”wow” the listeners  -  and hopefully, get them blown away and join the growing community of satisfied and happy Pianotequsers.    So,
1) I made up a 1 minute and 50 second story/presentation about a good pianosound that was born, Pianoteq, and what a joyful day when I found it!  And,
  2) composed a short waltz, dedicated to Ptq, and mixed it together with the presentation. Some people say that Ptq does not cut through in orchestra, less clear, so I made the sound ”clear/crisp” to my own taste with a fifth microphone, among other things.
Hope you all enjoy listening!

And one more thing – Thank You, Modartt

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Hi

Thank you very much, custral! I hope that the presentation help people to like Pianoteq even more.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Here's my entry... a lounge improvisation piece using 9 Pianoteq instances to make a complete arrangement...
Everything except the percussion tracks is Pianoteq.
Hope you like it...

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Here are my two cents ....

Loving Pianoteq 5  an trying to make a comparison with a real Steinway I've made that video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_3kVlwjsNU

The programming of Pianoteq 5 Std (unfortunately) demo timbre is mine ... of course

So (unfortunately) on Pianoteq 5 session some notes are missed ....

Have nice time with my video

Steve

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Very good comparison !

It could render a cool blindtest.

The major diferente there is the pianoteq trebble, that sounds very brilliant (but not artificial).

Thank You Beto-Music.

The sound of Pianoteq 5 is as it comes out from the program with no post processing

I think that with the pro version and just one more feature (I will communicate it to Pianoteq programmers) the sound of Pianoteq 5 could be indistinguishable from that of a real Steinway D

So I am dreaming of an "hardware" solution  ...

Hi!

Here is my video with Pianoteq 5, for the piano sound. (The other accompanying instruments are from Logic.) It is a composition I made, "Autumn Day", intended for the piano.

I have been using Pianoteq a lot. First Pianoteq 4, which was already good, and now 5, which was a great improvement. Thank you!

Best regards,

Thomas

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Hiya - here is my go at it. I created a backing track in Logic using some drums/bass/perc along with PIANOTEQ 4 R2 Cinematic Rhodes (slightly modified). The piano improvisation I recorded (live) uses the demo version of PIANOTEQ 5 Stage, so some of the notes I played were unfortunately silenced. The track begins with a jazz fusion groove, then transitions into a latin cha-cha vamp.

For me the hallmark of a good instrument, be it "real" or digital, is that I feel creative when playing...that the quality of the sound or touch doesn't hinder that flow of energy, and I gotta say that PIANOTEQ 5 Stage really felt wonderful to play.

I've done my best to sync the audio & video but it's quite as tight as I would like... Hope you enjoy!

Very beautiful playing, Lo134! And Bluthner sounds awesome! Also love the view of your Yamaha grand!
What preset did you use? It would be great, if you decide to share it in fxpcorner or by e-mail!)

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Thank you so much Kridlatec for your kind words of encouragement.  I am really happy that you liked the performance and the digital piano setup.

In terms of the Bluthner preset used, I used the "Bluthner Model One BA" preset.  The only change I made was the "condition" slider (I slide it to about "0.16").

I agree that the preset sounded awesome!

My entry is played with various instruments from the Pianoteq Schloss Kremsegg historical piano collection using Werkmeister temperament.
Music is played with Pianoteq software using M-audio keyboard on Mac mini computer.
Photos are from the Frederick Historical Piano collection in Ashburnham, Ma. USA.
They are open to the public and have a website.
The Pianoteq collection is wonderful.
I have five more videos on my Youtube website using a different piano from the collection for each video.

Hello creat and benlewispiano, I hope the jury will not be as hasbeen than last year and give you a price.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Greetings!

I discovered Pianoteq a few weeks ago and I am blown away with the program's authentic samples and ease of use within my DAW. I am an experienced piano player, but just now starting out with basic learning of music production and sound engineering. My submission is a remixed EDM track, using Pianoteq 5's K2 Grand Piano. Stylistically, I am biased towards having piano in all of my remixed tracks

Many experienced musicians cringe at the thought of EDM music. If this is you, please don't click "PLAY"

I have used Pianoteq 5's K2 Grand Piano in remixing this track by The Chainsmokers ft. SirenXX. Hope you enjoy! Oh, and if I win, I look forward to purchasing the Studio version of Pianoteq 5. Thank you for listening! https://soundcloud.com/chrishaught

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Hello Pianoteq Users, this my entry for the piano contest.

I am playing Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu using the Pleyel Piano which I find to be absolutely beautiful (no wonder why Chopin loved it so much and was his favourite piano!). Thank you so much Modart for creating such an amazing piece of software (I say piece because it is literally a few MB and i still cannot believed it). I tried the free Pianoteq trial version before buying an actual acoustic piano and hanged my mind and opted to all digital with a GOOD controller (Kawai VPC-1).

It is also worth noting that I used Pianoteq Stage on my video, since it is the one I could afford, so no fancy microphone or other tweak enhancement to my piano sound.

I hope you guys like it.

PD: I did a few takes, and despite a few mistakes, I used this one because it was the one I felt the most.

Cheers everyone!,

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Hello guys! I really appreciate your submissions, they are really cool!
I am new Pianoteq customer, bought it month ago (Stage version). I originally learned about Pianoteq long time ago, but could not really convince myself to buy it... but when I finally did, I fell in love

I tried do create my own piano model, based on large Petroff piano. I even constructed some machinery to measure the soundboard responses etc - but there is still long way to go. Wanted to share my results with you so, enjoy

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Hi - here is my entry to the contest.  I played the 3rd movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata using the Graf pianoforte.  I talked a little about the Graf pianoforte in my video and started the video with a short clip of the Sonata using the D4 Piano.

By the way, you might notice different colored paper taped to some of the keys of my keyboard.  That is because I am using that to begin teaching my youngest daughter to start playing the piano, of course using Pianoteq.  Thanks and I hope you like the video.

EDIT on 8 Nov 2014: I fixed an audio video sync issue in the talking part of my video and reuploaded to Youtube.  I request the new version be used in the contest.  Thanks!

In this video I play my composition and in the second half of it I improvise to it.

The piece is in just intonation.

In this video I use free trial version of Pianoteq 5 Standard.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Fine playing.

And more impressive about you hadn't drope any M&M candies that were in the keyboard.

Bonjour,
Cordialement.

Thanks Beto-Music.  I like your post with the M&M candies - it was funny.  When I first taped the colored paper to my keyboard, I thought it was going to mess me up when I play, but it did not bother me, so it is easier to leave it on the keyboard than to take it off and put it back on every day.

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Hello Everyone,

I composed this etude for left hand earlier this year after severely breaking my right hand. Once physical therapy got my right hand working again I decided to add an optional right hand to this already extremely challenging etude. I premiered it recently, but this is its Pianoteq premier...

I only purchased Pianoteq a couple days ago, but I must say, I like it! This is is first time I've been able to really dig into a digital instrument and have it respond NOT like a toy, but like a real quality instrument. Nice job!

I used the Steinway and extended the soundboard to get a slightly longer sustain (matched to my Steinway). I love the various instruments, but to my ear the Steinway sounds the most realistic. Now I just need to upgrade my MP8 which feels completely cheap coupled with Pianoteq!

Hope you enjoy-

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

fantastic @keymanpal, musical and so creative…
an alternative answer to the common question "why not just use a real piano?"
it made me think, one day (not too long) this will be possibly wirelessly, then we could have dancers doing just as you were doing… not responding to the music, but being a part of it.

(love the other entries, I wish i could play as well, but this one just made me stop and think)

Re: PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2014 - ENTRIES

Wow Nathan! Really great playing! I really like the two handed version... It's to bad that I don't have the time (or energy) right now, otherwise I should have asked for the sheet music on this one....

Thank You!
