Topic: Bad latency on all keys

I just downloaded the 2.3 demo and it sounds great, but I am having a serious latency problem when playing from a midi keyboard.  Here's my setup:

1) Casio CDP-100 midi keyboard
2) Midisport Uno midi-USB interface
3) Windows XP SP2 running on 2.33GHz Intel Core2 Duo w/2 GB RAM.

A pure guess would be about a .25 second lag between when I press a key to when I hear a note. (Pretty short, but unfortunately, unplayable.)

I did look through the forum here, I also updated the driver for the midi-USB interface and I read through the Pianoteq manual. (I tried optimizing XP for background processess with no improvement.)

Any thoughts?  If I can't fix this issue, I won't be able to justify buying it.
Thanks!

Re: Bad latency on all keys

Try www.asio4all.com - it's a freeware asio sound card driver.
After installation choose it in Pianoteq's audio configuration. You should get 5ms easily

Re: Bad latency on all keys

Are you sure the problem is in PianoTeq? If you use your keyboard+midi setup to drive another midi-based sound generation program does it have low latency (for example using VSTHost with the Phibes VST organ)?

Some time ago I tried a MIDI->USB adaptor (can't remember which one) plus the associated software driver and this setup had too high a latency for my tastes. I now use direct midi in to the computer sound card (E-MU 0404) which is quite acceptable.

Your hardware should in principle be able to give excellent performance as far as I can see. Do you have native ASIO drivers for your sound card (what is it)?
